Ishtar, the Wicked
Queen of Spring, is an immortal being who was worshiped in
ancient times by wicked, decadent, sinful people.
She created the
rabbit-like creatures known as the Lepus, who, wanting to please
Ishtar, hunted human children every Spring.
Understandably,
people hid their children from the Lepus, but the cruel
creatures made a game of this. Eventually, this would
transition into the egg-hunting games during Easter.
Other than her most
loyal follower, Edwin Bunny, no
other Lepus are known to exist today. Unlike
Samhain, Ishtar is all but
forgotten -- but loyal Edwin carries on the hunt each Easter.
