Introduction

In the year of our Lord 2009 a boy band from Russia, called Street Magic, came to prominence.

For reasons unknown, they wore bunny ears and knee socks on stage while singing bubblegum pop.

Parody the bunny outfits, add in an insane ex-KGB and a monstrous hunter or two, and you have yourself a Wundercomic.

Trivia

From Russia with Hop

The South Street Bunnies outfits are a parody of those seen worn by Street Magic, a Russian boy band.

Despite the similar outfits, none of my characters are based upon, or named after, any of the real-life singers.

Hop for You Lyrics

The first few lines of the song are written to the tune of the Russian song.

After that, the tunes no longer match.

There're lions, and tigers, and bears - oh my!
But, baby, they'll hurt you, they'll make you cry.

I got these long, floppy ears to listen to you.
I got a beat in my feet to hop, hop, hop for you.

If you'll let me, I'll be there, I'll care for you.
If you want me, my heart will be hop, hop, hopping too.

South Street Bunnies! We hop, but not for the monies!
Girl, it is for you, you know this to be true, I'll stick with you like glue.

South Street Bunnies! We hop but not to get honies!
Girl, I hop for you, shake my tail like new, forever I'll be true.

There're cobras, and foxes, and wolves -- oh no!
But, baby, I'm a bunny, and my feet ain't slow.

I got these big ears and I'll hear all you say.
I'll hop, and eat carrots, and love you all day.

Dima Strakes Again

Though it may not be obvious from the title and cover alone, Run Bunny Run is a sequel to The Most Dispensable Game.

Boy Bands Run Amok

My first job out of high school was working at a music store.  During this period, boy bands were extremely popular

-- and those groups and their fans drove those of us who worked at the music story crazy.  Likely, my annoyance with

these boy bands influenced my decision to create the South Street Bunnies.

Lilly, from Trick or Eat 7, was a fan of the South Street Bunnies.

The South Street Bunnies' band name is a mixture of Street Magic and Backstreet Boys.

Kinder Rock Trio

With the help of their management, the Kinder Rock scenes were translated into Russian, primarily for the benefit of the band members.

While the musicians seemingly enjoyed the comic, their fans didn't seem particularly interested.

Covers

I remade the cover with the same basic look but touched up the outlines and added motion effects.
