Popular Witch

Trick or Eat 9 is the 11th best-selling Wundercomic to date and no comic released after Trick 9 has sold more copies.

Going Witch

Pale Anne is named after an American politician (who is NOT named Anne).  Beyond the name, there isn't anything else connecting the two.

Unlike Trick 4, Trick 9 does not have any political satire.

Which politician?  Say "Pale Anne" a bunch of times, quickly, and you may figure it out.

The Color Purple

While the witch got her name from a politician, her look and color scheme were influenced by an album cover I found around that time.

Coincidentally, there is a song on this album titled "Pale" which I've since adopted as Pale Anne's theme.

Trick or Eat 9 started the trend of naming the comic after a new witch.  Pale Anne, Blood Willow, Cruel Alice, Cold Elen, etc.

Witch's Quest III

The idea of a witch (wizard) enslaving a lad to be a house servant came from the Adventure Game King's Quest III.

As noted in other commentaries, 80s and 90s Sierra games were a favorite of mine growing up.

As Tarran learned, if you say "Pale Anne" three times at midnight while looking into a mirror, the witch will come get you.

This idea comes from the Bloody Mary myth.

On Halloween Night the ghosts of Baba Yaga's victims haunt the forest near her home.

This is seen in Trick 9 and mentioned in another comic.

Cody (from Trick 6), whose fate was assumed but not fully shown, is confirmed Yaga chow when we see his ghost.

Claire and Bella, first seen in Trick 5, appear again in Trick 9, and later in Trick 13 (every 4 years?).

They do have a few tiny cameos in a few other tales, but it's 5, 9, and 13 where they have more active roles.

Covers

I remade the cover -- looks similar to the original but with lots of small clean-up work.

Corrected Page

I had forgotten to draw in Tarran's bindings after Baba Yaga captures him.  This has bugged me for years so I've finally fixed it.

The corrected page has replaced the older version in downloads.  You can also get it by clicking below:
