House Mettz has always been known for having sneaky, conniving, and violent practices.  Its leadership and inner circle are known as "The Red Hand" which adorns their banner.  Many assassins have led House Mettz over the years and few leaders last long until a young upstart decided to take them out.   They are one of the more feared and respected Houses -- no one wants to tangle with goblins with assassination skills.
