Eli and his mysterious partner who wears a fedora are con artists.  The duo travel the countryside fooling wealthy (and unscrupulous) merchants and clan leaders by selling Eli into slavery.  Then, later, his partner rescues him and the two perform the same stunt again.

 

After being "sold" to Voonder, Eli was betrayed by his partner and left to rot.  Luckily for Eli, he knew the location of an ancient treasure.  Trading that information for his life, he and the goblin warlord traveled together in search of the lost treasure of the Moon King.
